How You Can Help

1. Learn

Suspend judgement. Talk to your family, friends and colleagues about the causes and solutions for homelessness. See Homelessness FAQ.

Homeless persons often feel they are invisible – society’s pariahs that are either ignored or reviled by the rest of the community. So – say “hello”, start a conversation, treat the person as though they did matter. Be respectful and courteous.

Would you like an opportunity to sit down and talk with someone who is homeless? To find out what life is like from their perspective – the challenges of living without shelter, of being isolated from and shunned by the community surrounding them, their own stories? Here is your chance. You are cordially invited to attend the soup kitchen at St. Catherine’s Anglican Church, 2211 Prairie Ave. Port Coquitlam, any Wednesday from 12 – 2 PM – provided you take the time to chat with a homeless person who relies on this service for an occasional hot meal. No reservations required – just drop in.
