The “Three Things” website created by The Tri-Cities Homelessness & Housing Task Group aims to broaden awareness of the complexity of addiction, increase understanding of its diverse impacts and indiscriminate nature, and reduce stigmatization of community members living with addiction. The Task Group hopes that the Three Things campaign will help foster a community in which all human beings are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of station in life or substance misuse issues.
The website was launched in December 2011. Website traffic analysis indicates that during the 2012 calendar year, there were 262 visits to the website, 74% of these were from new visitors. In all, a total of 199 people visited the site during this period. On average 3.12 pages of the website were visited per visit, with the average duration of each website visit 2:05 minutes. Although the traffic to date has been modest, visitors to the site have spent sufficient time to learn about the nature of addiction and to be encouraged to suspend judgement of those persons struggling with substance misuse.
